Tools - Software Tools That I Use

This lists software tools I use in developing websites.

I mainly use NoteTab Pro, PaintShop Pro, ImageStyler, A Real Validator, FileZilla, and various browsers:

  • NoteTab Pro: I use this for editing text files, mainly HTML, xHTML, CSS, and JavaScript files.
  • PaintShop Pro: I use this as my primary tool for editing graphics, mainly GIF, PNG, and JPEG files.
  • ImageStyler: I use this as a secondary tool for editing graphics, mainly PNG files.
  • A Real Validator: I use this to validate HTML and xHTML files.
  • FileZilla: I use this to transfer files to/from web servers.
  • Various Browsers: I use a variety of browsers to test websites.

However I regularly use a wide variety of tools:

Audacity Audio Editor : I use Audacity to edit audio files.
Chrome Browser : I use Google’s Chrome for Android & Windows to test websites.
Edge Browser : I use Microsoft’s Edge for Android & Windows to test websites.
Internet Explorer Browser : I use Microsoft’s Internet Explorer to test websites on Windows.
Firefox Browser : I use Mozilla’s Firefox for Android & Windows to test websites. I have all versions of Firefox for Windows installed on my primary PC so that I can test sites with legacy versions of Firefox.
Focus Browser : I use Mozilla’s Focus for Android to test websites.
Pale Moon Browser : I use Pale Moon to test websites on Windows.
SeaMonkey Browser : I use Mozilla’s SeaMonkey to test websites on Windows.
Opera Browser : I use Opera for Android & Windows to test websites.
Opera Mini Browser : I use Opera Mini for Android to test websites.
Vivaldi Browser : I use Vivaldi as my primary browser and to test websites on Windows.
Font Finder Browser Add-Ons : I use Andy Portmen’s Font Finder browser add-on to examine the results of CSS rules.
Web Developer Browser Add-Ons : I use Chris Pederick’s Web Developer browser add-on for a wide range of develop­meant activities.
Mozilla Thunderbird Email and Newsgroup Program : I use Mozilla’s Thunderbird for email and newsgroup communication.
Legacy Family Tree Family Trees : I use Legacy Family Tree to make genealogical sites.
Adobe Edge Web Fonts Fonts : I use the free Adobe Edge Web fonts for fonts on my websites.
Corel Gallery Fonts : I use Corel Gallery fonts (from a product no longer available) for fonts on my websites.
Font Library Fonts Fonts : I use free Font Library fonts for fonts on my websites.
GitHub Fonts Fonts : I use free GitHub Fonts for fonts on my websites.
Google Fonts Fonts : I use free Google Fonts for fonts on my websites.
Google Fonts Fonts : I use the free IBM Plex Mono font for my text editor.
Squirrel Fonts Fonts : I use free Squirrel Fonts for fonts on my websites.
Windows Fonts Fonts : I use Windows Fonts for fonts on my websites.
DP4 Font Viewer Fonts : I use the DP4 Font Viewer to reveal details about fonts, especially widths and weights.
PrintMyFonts Fonts : I use the free PrintMyFonts to produce specimens of fonts.
Universal Character Map Fonts : I use Universal Character Map to reveal details about fonts, especially symbols, dingbats, and emoji.
Filezilla FTP Tool : I use FileZilla to transfer files between PCs and servers.
Grammarly Grammar and Spell Checker : I use Grammarly to check for grammar and spelling errors.
PaintShop Pro Graphics Editor : I use the u/maxst aPNG Assembler to create animated PNG images from existing images.
PaintShop Pro Graphics Editor : I use Corel’s Aftershot, Animation Shop, Creative Collection, PainterEssentials, PaintShop Pro 7, Paintshop Pro 2019, Particle Shop, Perfectly Clear, Photo Mirage, and PicToPainting to create and edit most of my graphics files, such as JPEG, GIF, animated GIF, and PNG files.
Adobe ImageStyler Graphics Editor : I use Adobe ImageStyler (a product no longer available) to create and edit some gra­phics files, mainly PNG files.
Adobe LiveMotion Graphics Editor : I use Adobe LiveMotion (a product no longer available) to create and edit some gra­phics files, mainly PNG files.
JPEGcrop Graphics Editor : I use JPEGcrop to losslessly edit JPEG files.
IcoFx Graphics Editor : I use IcoFx to create and edit ICO graphics files.
Inkscape Graphics Editor : I use Inkscape to create and edit some gra­phics files, such as PNG and SVG files.
Wood Workshop Graphics Editor : I use Spiral Graphic’s Wood Workshop to create and edit wood texture images.
PNG Gauntlet Graphics Optimizer : I use PNG Gauntlet to optimize PNG images, to minimize their file sizes and load times.
FindUnusedFiles.exe Link Checker : I use Robert Hoffman’s FindUnusedFiles.exe to check for unused files.
Xenu Link Checker : I use Xenu’s Link Sleuth to check for broken links.
Microsoft OneNote Office Document Tools : I use Microsoft OneNote to make notes.
Microsoft Word Office Document Tools : I use Microsoft Word to create documents.
Microsoft Excel Office Document Tools : I use Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets.
Windows 10 Operating System : I use Android on my tablet.
Windows 10 Operating System : I use Windows on my PCs.
Face Filter Photo Editor : I use Reallusion’s FaceFilter to improve the look of faces in photos.
NoteTab Pro Text Editor : I use NoteTab Pro to create and edit text files such as HTML, xHTML, CSS, and JavaScript files. Highly recommended: it is fast and powerful, with support for wildcard and regex search and replace strings.
HTML Validator Validator : I use Liam Quinn’s A Real Validator to check for HTML and xHTML errors.
HTML and CSS Validators Validator : I use the W3C HTML Validator to check for HTML and xHTML errors, and the W3C CSS Validator to check for CSS errors.
Whois Service Whois Service : I use the Whois Service to check for domain registration information.
